Getting Ready for Your Eldorado Hills Thermography Visit

Thermography reads the temperature at your skin's surface, so anything that heats, chills or aggravates the skin may influence your images. Kindly follow these steps before you come in:

In the 24 Hours Before

• No sunbathing or tanning, and avoid sunburn on the area to be imaged.
• No physical therapy, massage, chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture or electrical muscle stimulation.
• No shaving of the area to be imaged.

On the Day of Your Visit

• No lotions, creams, powders, deodorant or antiperspirant on the area to be imaged.
• No hot showers, baths, saunas or steam rooms within 2 hours.
• No vigorous exercise within 4 hours.
• No smoking or caffeine within 2 hours.
• Wear comfortable clothing and tie long hair up for breast and upper body studies.

If you've recently had a biopsy, surgery or radiation therapy, or if you are pregnant or nursing, please tell us when you book so we can plan your appointment accordingly.

What Happens During Your Eldorado Hills Thermography Visit

On arrival, you'll review and sign your intake forms (found on our Patient Forms page). Next, you'll undress from the waist up for a breast study, or as required for the area being imaged, and relax in a temperature-controlled room for roughly 15 minutes.

Your technician will walk you through a few easy positions as the infrared camera records images. For certain breast studies, a short cold challenge (hands in cool water for a minute) may be used to observe how blood vessels react. There is no contact with the breasts and no discomfort.

Following Your Eldorado Hills Thermography Scan

You may resume your normal routine right away. Your images go to board-certified interpreting physicians, and your written report is usually ready within one to two weeks. If follow-up is advised, we'll walk you through the next steps and encourage you to share the results with your healthcare provider.
