Preparing for Your Eldorado Hills Thermography Appointment

Because thermography measures surface temperature, anything that warms, cools or irritates the skin can affect your results. Please follow these guidelines before your visit:

24 Hours Before

• No sunbathing or tanning, and avoid sunburn on the area to be imaged.
• No physical therapy, massage, chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture or electrical muscle stimulation.
• No shaving of the area to be imaged.

Day of Your Appointment

• No lotions, creams, powders, deodorant or antiperspirant on the area to be imaged.
• No hot showers, baths, saunas or steam rooms within 2 hours.
• No vigorous exercise within 4 hours.
• No smoking or caffeine within 2 hours.
• Wear comfortable clothing and tie long hair up for breast and upper body studies.

If you have had a recent biopsy, surgery, radiation therapy or are pregnant or nursing, please let us know when booking so we can schedule appropriately.

During Your Eldorado Hills Thermography Visit

When you arrive, you will review and sign your intake forms (available on our Patient Forms page). You will then disrobe from the waist up for a breast study, or as needed for the area being imaged, and rest in a climate-controlled room for about 15 minutes.

Your technician will guide you through a few simple positions while the infrared camera captures images. For some breast studies, a brief cold challenge (placing your hands in cool water for a minute) may be used to see how blood vessels respond. Nothing touches the breasts, and there is no discomfort.

After Your Eldorado Hills Thermography Scan

You can return to normal activities immediately. Your images are sent to board-certified interpreting physicians, and your written report is typically returned within one to two weeks. If your report recommends follow-up, we will explain the next steps and encourage you to share the results with your healthcare provider.
